Addiction and Dual Diagnoses

Rescheduled from June because of heat and no air condition.

According to a report published by the Journal of the American Medical Association:

37% of alcohol abusers and 53% of drug abusers also have at least one serious mental illness. Of all people diagnosed as mentally ill, 29% abuse either alcohol or drugs.

The Advocacy meeting on the 27th will provide answers to what addiction involves, what services are available, and interviews with noted authorities on the subject of addiction and co-occurring brain disorders and the most effective treatments. This will be an opportunity for you to learn about things which may help a family member or friend who has an addiction or help support a neighbor or friend who is dealing with getting help for their family member.

Auction Items Needed

The silent auction is a fun part of our fundraising event. How can you help?

1. Request donations. Our members are instrumental in obtaining donations of items and gift certificates from businesses that they frequent (Donations are tax deductible!). Please consider asking your family and friends to support FACES by donating an item. In previous years our auction has included restaurant gift certificates, vacation get-a-ways, sporting event tickets, memorabilia, original art work, jewelry and many types of gift baskets.
2. Make plans to attend our event and bid on your favorite items!
