Elizabeth Horn has 40 years experience advocating for people with disabilities. For 20 years she has been assisting people in obtaining Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), cash benefit programs under the Social Security Administration.       A Disability Rights Advocate for the disAbility Law Center of Virginia (dLCV) since 2013 she continues to educate and assist people with disabilities who are navigating these benefit programs.

Training for FACES:

Topic Title: Navigating Social Security Disability Benefits: What Does it Take to Be Approved?
This 90 minute presentation is designed for individuals with brain disorders and their loved ones or professionals that serve these individuals. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
Training to include understanding: 
• the process of applying and appealing
• the difference between SSDI and SSI, Medicare and Medicaid
• the criteria you need to meet to be approved
• ways to improve documentation of your condition
• how to avoid common mistakes
• how to maintain benefits if you get them or already have them
